International Childrens Rights Day

In this International Childrens Rights Day we celebrate the happiness of Maila, who received running water for the first time ! The access to clean water and basic sanitation is an essential human right that is so often missing in the lives of our kids at ALG.
Thanks to the generosity of her sponsor with our Charity, Maila and her granny were offered running water , in their house near Sta. Luisa de Marillac school in Chokwé.

On November 20th 1989 the United Nation adopted by unanimity the Convention on Children’s Rghts, a universal treaty adopted by a large amount of countries around the world.
Today at ALG we try every day, with little gestures, to contribute to secure the basic rights of kids like Maila.

Donate towards our cause(here) and celebrate with us the joy of the children in Mozambique.

Elisio grew...

Elisio is from Mozambique!
Elisio is from Xai Xai!
Elisio was part of the ALG sponsorship program for 12 years!
Elisio is an example for the youngest!
Elisio attended two technical courses and gives us this testimony that we share and that fills us with so much pride and give us the will to have more kids like him.
“I was at IFPELAC attending a construction painter course with the ALG support.
At the beginning nothing seemed simple, but when I was about to finish the course…I saw that I had more of me to give and that this was the beginning of a life changing.
I was blessed with feet that allowed me to walk and to follow in a way that I was able to fight poverty that has been in my family for years…
Today with the painting abilities I gained with the course I have jobs here and there that help me to take food to home, support my father that already fought a lot for me and for my younger sisters.
After I finished the course I was given a scholarship for a carpentry course and so I continue my formation at IFPELAC to acquire more knowledge.
For this and for so more that ALG made for me I appreciate and let an appeal to the youngest that are still in formation or that are still at the basic or middle school to continue so that one day they can be independent and able to contribute for change in their families!
For so many years ALG was my mother and father…Thank you so much!
Elísio Alexandre Muhale – Construction Painter”

Brick by brick… a new home!

After a period of hard work by UPG side by side with our Local Partner and Technicians Alfa and her family of 8 people now have a safe home to live in Manjangue!
Alfa, who is only 12 years old and has HIV, will now sleep more comfortably, will be able to study much better, will benefit from improved hygienic and sanitary conditions and will have access to a healthier environment appropriate to her growth.
The housing programme is part of UPG intervention in Poverty Alleviation & Infrastructures and it has as main goal to provide housing for children and families in situations of vulnerability and in very precarious conditions.
